Arcs
Arcs are a form of traction kite developed originally designed for kite surfing and kite sailing. Nowadays this has been superceeded and we recommend this for some awesome land kiting for light wind days where you could get some real floaty jumps on a landboard.
Their construction is of a parafoil style kite without bridles, the flying lines are attached directly and only to the wing tips. Inflation is achieved via water resistant inlets which makes them suitable for water use.
The astounding thing to see from the picture is the self sustaining curve of the arc when in flight. Two or four lines are used and the kite turns and reacts to control actively with a surprising amount of power. The taped seams and the valve like arrangement on the air inlets gives the kite a mattress like inflation, once up deflation even under pressure (laying on it) is not spontaneous. This is therefore a good kite surf option, as any dunking will not adversely affect its relaunch ability. Kites work particularly effectively when coupled with the great new Peter Lynn wind de-power bar available in three sizes.
This is an ex demo, good condition de-powerable kite, with an earlier emphasis on kite surfing. This is a self inflating wing, with velcro seals which you close once the kite in inflated, keeping the air in the wing. There are more appropriate kite surfing kites available nowadays for on water use which will float better when crashed. With that in mind you may consider not going too far out of your depth if using this kite on the water. Alternatively, or in addition, you could use this as a land power kite and be pulled around hugely and jump with, providing you know what you're doing! Either way, be aware, it's power is awesome! This kite would suit lighter winds or/and a larger person. Either way, with a good level of fitness to hold on to this no messing power kite!<back to top of page>...
